THE UNITED STATES-RUSSIA AWARDS FOR TEACHERS
OF ENGLISH AND AMERICAN STUDIES

2002

he Embassy of the United States of America is pleased to announce the 6th annual United States-Russia Awards for Teachers of English and American Studies. These awards are funded by the Freedom Support Act under the supervision of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the “Teachers’ Gazette”. The Program is administered by the American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS.

The 2002 United States-Russia Awards for Teachers of English and American Studies is a joint program to award excellence in teaching. Through an open, merit-based competition, secondary school teachers and their schools, from every region in Russia will be recognized for excellence in teaching English and American Studies. Both teachers and their schools will receive awards. 30 Russian teachers selected as finalists will spend seven weeks in the United States as participants in a professional enrichment seminar during the summer of 2002.

U.S. teachers will be participating in a parallel competition.
