REGIONAL SCHOLAR EXCHANGE PROGRAM
ACADEMIC YEAR 2002-2003
The Embassy of the United States of America is pleased to announce the eighth annual open competition for the Regional Scholar Exchange Program (RSEP) for 2002-2003.
The Regional Scholar Exchange Program is a merit-based, open competition that selects Russian scholars at the early stages of their academic careers for four-month research fellowships at U.S. universities or six-month fellowships in residence at the Kennan Institute in Washington, D.C. Since the program began in 1993, over 300 Russian scholars have participated in this program, which is developed, funded and supervised by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State with funds allocated by the Congress of the United States.
Applicants must submit proposals for scholarly research on innovative topics from one of the designated academic fields in the humanities and social sciences, including: American studies (including literature); business administration (including business and management education); city planning and urban studies; civic education, conflict resolution; criminal justice; demography; economics (including international trade, finance, and investment); education (including university administration); ethics and philosophy; foreign policy and international relations; government; history; labor relations; information technology (internet and the application of new information technologies in higher education); journalism and communications; law; library science; management; military science, political science; psychology, public administration; social work; sociology; and women’s studies.
Approximately 50 Russian scholars and 10 U.S. scholars will be selected for RSEP fellowships in academic year 2002-2003. Russian participants must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in written and spoken English and be between the ages of 24 and 60. Fellowships begin in the U.S. in fall 2002 or spring 2003.
